After talking to many Arsenal fans, there is a sense of relief after losing to Bayern Munich. Yes they were sad because no one wants to lose a game but they felt that the best chance of winning a trophy was in the Premier League and in the FA cup. Even if we were to get past Bayern, it doesn’t get any easier facing a team like Barcelona or Real Madrid. From the frying pan to the fire or is it from the fire to the frying pan?
After losing to Bayern, I was sure we would struggle against Sunderland but three goals in the first half shows how seriously Arsenal are taking the Premier League. It is no coincidence that we played so well after recalling Giroud and Rosicky and dropping Ozil and Sanogo but that is a story for another day.
We still have the return leg to contend with against Bayern and we can definitely turn things around but I wonder if anyone really wants to. We can play our second team and consider it a lost cause or go all out for the win as we did in the second leg last season. No one would really put it past the team to do it.
With another gruelling fixture list coming up against direct rivals like Chelsea and Manchester City including an FA cup quarter final fixture, who would blame fans for been pessimistic about the Champions League.
Personally though I feel we should go for it and attempt to win the treble. Contrary to popular belief, I think we have the depth this season to fight. Bendtner has performed well this season and yet cannot get a look in recently, Sanogo is performing well after coming back from injury, and Giroud is a frequent goal scorer without doing anything extraordinary. Our midfield is extremely strong and the fact that we will have Arteta and Flamini for the second leg against Bayern means we will have defensive stability which was lacking.

Its possible we might end up with nothing after such a promising season so why not just go all out. What do we have to lose?
