Alex Iwobi has admitted that Arsenal took their foot off the gas against Manchester City as they let slip a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon.
The defeat is Arsenal’s third of the season with the Gunners now two points behind Pep Guardiola’s side and nine behind leaders Chelsea.
Victory looked to be on the cards when Theo Walcott put the visitors ahead early on but Arsenal failed to capitalise on their early dominance and Iwobi admits they let City back into the game.
“I guess you could say we took our foot off the gas. Man City took advantage very well in the second half,” he told the official Arsenal website.
“We were up against a tough side, we were just unfortunate to not keep the win.
“We started off very well but we weren’t able to keep it up in the second half and we were very unfortunate.”

Arsenal now face to home games in quick succession against West Brom and Crystal Palace before a trip to Bournemouth and Iwobi has urged his side to bounce back quickly.
“Yes, we’re gonna keep on going, fight until the end and see where we go. We’ll just have to continue how we were playing at the start of the season,” he added.
“We just have to continue the way we were playing at the start of the season. We just have to get that back and kick on now and prepare well for the next game.”
Arsenal certainly need to improve before they face Tony Pulis’s side, but it is their second half displays, in particular, that will concern Wenger.
