Arsenal are looking to sign Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck if the latest reports from Sky Sports are to be believed, with the Evening Standard also suggesting the Gunners are favourites to land the 23-year-old.
Welbeck has been pushed even further down the United pecking order with the arrival of Ramadel Falcao on a season long loan from Monaco, and it appears the Gunners may be looking to secure the player who has become a bit-part player in Manchester
Sky Sports posted on their Transfer Deadline Day live feed:
Sky sources understand Manchester United and England striker Danny Welbeck is currently undergoing a medical with Arsenal. Tottenham were also very interested in the forward.
Welbeck has been training at Arsenal’s London Colney ground with the England national team and is perfectly positioned to undergo talks with the north London outfit, while Tottenham Hotspur are also trying to lure the United forward.
It is believed Arsenal is his number one preference, with a loan deal potentially on the table with a view to a permanent move at the end of the season.
Certainly not the big name striker we’ve been craving, but unfortunately Welbeck may be as good as we can get. United’s fourth choice forward to lead our line until Giroud returns in January seems a little underwhelming don’t you think? Marco Reus would be a far more exciting prospect not to mention Edinson Cavani. But both the latter two seem unlikely.

Maybe Welbeck can become Arsenal’s Daniel Sturridge? A player with immense ability at a young age but failed to really crack on. He has 26 Premier League goals to his name, so that’s 26 more than Sanogo.
