It was reported only a few days ago that he had tabled a £10m bid for Phil Jagielka, and that he had been enquiring about both Gary Cahill and Christopher Samba.
With a few options in his quest to find a proven central-defender he said this to the official Arsenal website: “Certainly, we will have to find one more defender
“We [are] working on it.
“I don’t want to comment individually because I do not want to destabilise clubs. I do not want to do to other clubs what some clubs do to us so I wouldn’t like to comment individually on any player.”
“I can promise we work very hard on it. In fairness, everybody looks for players. Everybody looks for the same area and you see that nobody turns up with magic. It’s all about being steady, working very hard on it and being calm as well.

These statements, I must say, relieve me very much. Now it seems it is not a matter of if we sign to bolster defence, but rather who we sign and the possibilities look very promising. With Gervinho looking in fine touch, with a brace against Cologne, things are starting to look up for Arsenal fans, which probably was not the case a week or two ago. Keep up the search Wenger!!
