Arsène Wenger has finally stated what we were all hoping he would, that he is in the market for new players. However the Frenchman insists that he is still focused on the season at hand as they fight for a top four finish.
Last summer majority of Arsenal’s acquisitions came at the death in the transfer window, and Wenger certainly won’t want a repeat of the fiasco that plagued their start to the season.

The Gunners have been linked with a host of players recently including German international Lukas Podolski and Frenchman Yann M’Vila. However Wenger’s men have only seven fixtures remaining including this weekends blockbuster tie with Manchester City, and every point is vital in their quest for Champions League football next season.
Wenger is focused on the league run-in, but has admitted that there is movement in the transfer market from Arsenal’s side, he told Arsenal Player:
Things are starting now [in terms of transfers].
At the moment we are so focused on finishing the season well, though, because what we have done over the past two months is absolutely exceptional.

It would be stupid not to finish the job now because we have put ourselves back in a strong position. To finish the season well demands a complete focus on our performances and that is what will do.
We will prepare for next season and the credit we will get for this season will depend on how we finish.
With Podolski essentially a done deal it will be interesting to hear who the other targets are. M’Vila has always been a player that I never thought Wenger would buy with Song, Coquelin and Frimpong all defensive midfielders, but it makes sense if he is as talented as people are saying. It may enable Song to become a more box to box midfielder and perhaps push Wilshere higher up the pitch.
The Gunners need to buy the best if it is available, and M’Vila will be available according to reports from his club Rennes who have conceded they are set to loose their star man. If the combative midfielder is purchased then it will likely mark the end of Coquelin at the club, perhaps he could be included in the deal?
So who do you think Wenger should buy if Podolski is a done-deal? I’m starting to warm to the idea of M’Vila moving to London especially after a summer move for Gotze has gone out the window with the youngster signing a new deal last month. Feel free to comment below…
