Arsene Wenger has claimed that Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi resembles his Gunners teammate, Per Mertesacker (via ESPN).
Saturday was a very pleasing day for Arsenal fans. The Gunners put in a fine performance to beat Spurs 2-0 in the Premier League.
One of the best parts of the match was the performances put in by the Gunners’ defensive players.
Laurent Koscielny was a rock and Shkodran Mustafi grabbed the opening goal to cap one of the defender’s best performances in an Arsenal shirt.
Now, Arsene Wenger has praised Mustafi, claiming he bears a resemblance to one of his teammates.

“First of all, he’s similar to Per on a mental front, but of course he’s 10 years younger, and he’s a leader, he’s a motivator,” Wenger said after the match.
“He has a strong focus, and he’s strong in the challenge. He had an outstanding performance against Tottenham. In the air he was good. He started a bit nervy and slowly became stronger and stronger.”
Shkodran Mustafi was excellent against Spurs on Saturday. The German defender put in one of his best performances in an Arsenal shirt and must be praised. His goal was incredibly well taken and any comparison to Per Mertesacker can only be a compliment.
