Arsene Wenger has claimed that forward Alexis Sanchez wants to stay at the club and that the only stumbling block is finding a deal with the player’s agent. The Chilean has 14 months left on his contract and has been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates (via Arsenal.com).
Well, after a terrible couple of months for Arsenal, this last week has actually been pretty good for the club. A decent point against Manchester City was followed up by the 3-0 demolition of West Ham United and now, some good news on the transfer front.
Alexis Sanchez has long been linked with a move away from the club but Arsene Wenger now thinks the Chilean wants to stay.
“I believe that he wants to stay at the club and it’s down to finding an agreement with his agent,” Wenger said in his pre-match press conference.
The Frenchman also put down suggestions that the Chilean’s future will be determined by who Arsenal sign in the summer transfer window.
“No,” Wenger went on. “The players have to see if they are happy at the club and then it’s down to finding an agreement.”

So it’s good news from Arsene Wenger. The Frenchman seems convinced that Alexis Sanchez would like to remain in North London and points some of the blame towards the Chilean’s agent. Hopefully, the Gunners will recruit well enough in the summer to lighten the burden on Sanchez up front.
