German World Cup winner Mesut Ozil had a memorable summer, but was unable to carry over his form to Arsenal. The attacking midfielder failed to impress during his outings this season and was largely anonymous when played down the left wing. The injury further compounded the player’s miserable start to the season.
But after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger feels that the German midfielder will come back at peak levels. The manager believes that the exertions of the World Cup left the player with very little energy and this was responsible for his slump in form.
The Germany international is still recovering from a knee ligament injury with the timeframe for his return set back until after the turn of the year.
I think, at Real, he played in a very strong team and he had a very good season with us last year.
But he had the World Cup and came back tired. We will see the best Ozil when he returns.
I was not aware of the supposed problems between Ozil and Sanchez. For me, there is no problem.
Ozil and Sanchez together had seemed a lethal proposition at the start of the season but nothing had materialised so far. Hopefully December will bring about a change in fortunes and our team will start to perform as a coherent whole.
