Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Olivier Giroud will stay at Arsenal after the forward showed his importance with the last-minute winner against Leicester (via Sky Sports).
Arsene Wenger has put an end to the rumours surrounding Olivier Giroud’s future at the club amid interest in the striker from a couple of Premier League rivals.
The match against Leicester showed Olivier Giroud’s importance perfectly as the Frenchman came off the bench to score an 85th-minute winner.
Despite that, the forward has spent the summer strongly linked with a move to the likes of Everton and West Ham United but Wenger put an end to that.
“I love the man and the player because he is a fantastic guy, he is committed and loves the club and he does not want to leave and I am happy that he wants to stay,” Wenger said after the match.
“But at some stage, I opened the door for him because I knew that I had many strikers, but he is really loved here and we love him and in the end, he decided to stay.”

It’s the right decision to let Olivier Giroud stay at Arsenal. He may not be the first-choice forward at the club right now but his ability to come off the bench and get goals will be important this season. He’s a very different player to Alexandre Lacazette and exactly what the Gunners needed yesterday.
