Arsene Wenger is seriously considering dropping Mesut Ozil for Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena on Wednesday, according to The Telegraph.
The Germany international is out of form, without a goal in 2017, and struggling for assists and Wenger is tempted to either leave him out or tweak his formation.
Arsenal also have plenty of attacking options currently with Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Lucas Perez all in good form while Danny Welbeck has looked bright since his return from a long injury lay-off.
The Gunners returned to winning ways on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Hull City but Wenger admitted after the game that Ozil is not at his best currently and is lacking confidence.
“I felt he was not completely confident technically,” he said. “That’s a problem because you think he can deliver something special. He did things that he is not used to doing. He needs to find confidence again. He misses chances that don’t look unfeasible.”
Wenger also hinted at a change of tactics for the trip to face Carlo Ancelotti’s side who warmed up for the game with a 2-0 win away at Ingolstadt.

“It’s important that we protect the second game,” he added “We must go there, not hide, but defend well as a team.”
Arsenal have been knocked out of the Champions League at the last 16 stage for the last six seasons but will be hoping to change that trend against a Bayern side that has looked more vulnerable that usual this season.
There is also an argument for dropping Ozil, particularly with the wealth of options available to Wenger although it would be a huge call by the Frenchman.
