Arsene Wenger says he will decide whether to remain at Arsenal in “March, April probably” following Wednesday’s humiliating 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
The Frenchman is out of contract this summer but is believed to have been offered a two-year deal to remain at the Emirates, which he is yet to respond to.
Wenger has come under huge pressure after defeat to Chelsea which effectively ruled the Gunners out of the title race, while the loss to Carlo Ancelotti’s side had led to further scrutiny over his position at the club.
The 67-year-old was asked when he would make a decision on his future by German television, before the game against Bayern, and said “March, April probably,” according to The Guardian.
Wednesday’s defeat has reignited speculation Wenger could step down at the end of the season with many people believing the defeat simply confirmed he has taken the club as far as he can.
Arsenal now look destined to exit the Champions League at the round of 16 for the seventh consecutive season, despite a summer of big spending with Granit Xhaka, Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi all arriving.

Massimilano Allegri and Thomas Tuchel are the names most frequently linked with replacing Wenger although both men have played down such speculation in recent weeks.
Wenger must now try to revive his squad after their demoralising defeat with the club facing a trip to Sutton United in the FA Cup on Monday night, a potentially tricky test, but the competition now surely Arsenal’s only chance of silverware this season.
