Arsene Wenger has given an update ahead of our trip to the Allianz Arena, and unfortunately there was no good news. The Frenchman revealed that nobody would be back for the game against Bayern Munich, and suggested we may be waiting a while to see our key stars back in action.
Discussing our injured stars, the manager claimed that they were all “very close”. His definition of very close may be different to ours, but he did go into a bit of detail about a few players.
It looks as though Mikel Arteta and David Ospina will be back soonest, with the pair set to rejoin full training ahead of the North London Derby this weekend. Neither player is likely to be anywhere near the starting XI at the moment though, so while it will obviously be a boost to have them back, we would much rather hear good news on players like Hector Bellerin and Theo Walcott.
Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain look to be next on the list, although we’ll be waiting quite a while for the British pair to return. Wenger claims they won’t be back until at least after the international break, meaning they’ll miss some key games.
“They are all very close. I think Arteta will be back in full training on Friday, Ospina as well. After the break, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ramsey [could be] back as well,” he said (via Arsenal.com).
We really need to avoid any further injuries in the coming weeks, as we are in a position to take control of the Premier League, especially when you look at our upcoming fixtures.
