Arsene Wenger is notoriously tight-lipped with regard to transfers, but the Arsenal boss has opened up to confirm that he is still on the lookout for two players this summer, as reported by talkSPORT.
We have made just one first-team signing so far, and more are needed if we want to challenge for the highest honours.
Petr Cech is our solitary arrival since the season’s close (via the BBC), but hopefully there will be more. We are lacking in a number of areas, and Wenger clearly recognises that fact.
“It depends, if we find ideally what we want, we are still hoping to do something else,” Wenger said, as quoted by talkSPORT.
“That doesn’t depend only on us, it depends on whether we can find them, but if we can find one or two players we will do it.”
While he does say he is keen on making more signings, we’ve heard similar comments from the manager before. He tries not to give too much away, but the fact that he says “it depends” suggests there is a possibility that we may see no further additions.

Our priorities this summer should be a defensive midfielder and a top class striker, but a wide player is arguably needed too.
With Alexis Sanchez set to miss the start of the season (via the Mirror), there are question marks over how we will line up. Danny Welbeck, Theo Walcott, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all options, but we can’t afford to leave ourselves lacking in depth.
Wenger has a habit of playing midfielders out of position and on the wing, and we can’t afford to be doing that if we are looking to challenge the likes of Chelsea for the Premier League title.
“We have plenty of [wide] players. We have Walcott, Chamberlain, Sanchez, [Jack] Wilshere who can play wide, [Serge] Gnabry, so we have plenty of players,” Wenger said (via the Daily Mail).
Hopefully Wenger goes all out to secure the two signings he’s hinted at, as with our Premier League rivals strengthening as well, we need to close the gap.
