Arsene Wenger has reportedly given up on his chase for Kylian Mbappe and instead has focussed all his efforts on signing Thomas Lemar (via The Telegraph).
It would’ve been one of the most incredible transfers in football history but it seems that Kylian Mbappe won’t be joining Arsenal this summer.
With reports that the forward will remain at Monaco for the coming term, Arsene Wenger has reportedly called off his pursuit of the 18-year-old and has turned his attentions to other targets.
It now seems that the club’s main target is Mbappe’s Monaco teammate, Thomas Lemar. The 21-year-old scored 14 goals in 55 matches for the French champions last season and Arsene Wenger is reportedly a huge admirer.
The Gunners have lodged two bids for the winger and while the first one was turned down, there are reports that the second is still on the table.
Monaco are reportedly refusing to negotiate with Arsenal over the transfer of Lemar after losing several key players to English clubs already this summer.

As far as the Gunners’ pursuit of Thomas Lemar goes, we’ll have to wait and see. Arsenal may have to lodge another bid for the winger but if reports are to be believed, the winger is interested in joining the Gunners. Let’s hope Arsene Wenger and the club can get it done as soon as possible.
