The England midfielder sat out of Saturday’s 3-0 win over Burnley at Emirates Stadium after picking up a minor knee problem in the build-up to the game.
The French manager has confirmed that the Englishman will return to training by Monday and be assessed ahead of the game on Tuesday.
Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, he said:
He has not practiced yet. Will he be available? We’ll see. I think he will try tomorrow, Monday latest.
Wenger also gave some good news by confirming that we didn’t pick up any fresh injuries yesterday. Asked if there were any other new injuries to report, he responded with a “No”.
Wenger shouldn’t rush Wilshere back as we should have enough to beat Anderlecht and possibly Swansea City without him, but hopefully he will be available for the weekend as the Gunners are often a better team with him on the pitch.
It’s been a strong start to the season as we’ve seen flashes of his form, but again injuries here and there are making it tougher for the Englishman’s consistency but hopefully he can stay fit and continue to stay on top of his game.
