Arsene Wenger is convinced that the current Arsenal squad has the quality and mentality to be champions of the Premier League and has admitted that some of the teams in previous years may have lacked in some regards (via the Mirror).
Having been in charge of the Gunners for nearly 20 years now, Wenger definitely has the requisite experience to be talking of title winning credentials. However, the Premier League trophy drought at Arsenal has been too long for some, and that has been made even worse by title challenges fizzling out season after season due to familiar reasons.
The recent win over Newcastle, where Arsenal were far from their best but still managed to get 3 points, has Wenger convinced of his team’s ability to go the distance and win the Premier League this season.
“You fight, not to concede a goal, not panic and wait for your chance. We were more questioned on that aspect than the way we play football, so it is good sometimes to win like that,” he enthused.
“I have belief because of the experience, the quality of the attitude,” he continued, highlighting the qualities required to be champions of England.
“I think a team always has a charisma. If you look at the team as a unit, it is like a person. If you look at your team like a person and the vibes coming out, you can sense – when you are a long time in the job – if there is something in there or not.

Arsenal transfer news
It increasingly seems like this Arsenal side are more serious about their title push than any of those who have tried to end the club’s 12 year wait for a Premier League trophy. Plus, with the January transfer window underway, Wenger will no doubt be looking to help his side do just that by signing a couple of players. Arsenal fans will be hoping the team takes heart from the manager’s words and proves him right by lifting the title come the end of the campaign.
