Arsene Wenger has dropped the biggest hint yet that we’re set to be active once again on deadline day after revealing that he’s confident of making a signing at the last minute, he told reports (via Arsenal Player).
With Petr Cech the only arrival this summer, we are still short of a few players if we’re to realistically challenge for the Premier League this season.
In fact, one would be hard-pressed to remember a summer where Wenger has brought in no outfield players in order to supplement our first-team squad.
Considering that we’ve consistently been active in the final few days of the window, it seems the boss will go with a similar strategy this time around.
Arsenal transfer news
“I am always confident that a last-minute situation or solution is available because the transfer market is especially moving in the last four or five days,” Wenger told the gathering media.

“We have specific targets but sometimes you get an idea from somebody because you didn’t know that the player you like was available and if you get an opportunity you do it.”
Judging by Wenger’s comments, some may become rather excited at what might transpire, but one can’t help but notice a tone of desperation in his latest update.
Very rarely, do our rivals put themselves in a situation where they’re scrambling around looking for solutions on the final day of the window.
It wreaks of poor preparation and management, especially when this is a regular occurrence at the Emirates Stadium.
