Arsene Wenger has already conceded that Luis Suarez is out of the question with Liverpool adamant not to sell the striker to a rival club, however the Uruguayan could still play a part in securing a top forward for the Gunners in the form of Karim Benzema.
The Real Madrid striker could potentially leave the La Liga Runners-up if Suarez heads to Spain, with Wenger keen on adding the Bernabeu forward to his ranks.
We initially hoped Higuain would come to Arsenal with Suarez heading to Spain in a form of a transfer merry-go-round, but now Benzema could may take over that mantle if things pan out nicely for the Gunners.
Unfortunately this summer has been nothing short of a disaster after pulling out of negotiations for Higuain to pursue Suarez due to a reported clause. That went balls up and now the Gunners are in a spot of bother.
Wenger was asked in his pre-match press conference if he felt whether Suarez moving to Real Madrid would help him land the France international, he responded:
That’s part of the fact you need three agreements for anybody.

It’s true that it is sometimes connected with other clubs, but we have to accept that.
That can happen (a players joins another club). You’ve certainly tried to go out with a girl but find she has chosen someone else. You don’t commit suicide.
I don’t want to speak in detail about what has happened. One day, why not?
But now it’s not the moment to talk about that. I just said it’s over. We have to get on with our lives.
Benzema is the type and calibre of player we need. Whether this deal ever eventuates…One can only hope. It would be a big blow for Liverpool to lose Suarez (win for us) and if we get Benzema it’ll be a double win!
The La Liga outfit are close to securing Bale which is another win for the Gunners, so they can afford to let Benzema leave with a number of options available to Ancellotti IF they get the Liverpool striker. Di Maria may also be allowed to leave, a talented winger who would be another exciting signing for the Gunners.
If Wenger somehow pulls off those two signings then he can be forgiven for his diabolical attempts this summer. After all, he claims he has no qualms about spending big (yeah right!) He added:
I’m not against splashing out, but football is not only about that.
(But) many players want to join us and all the players who have been here want to come back here. It’s not because they like my face.
They want to come here because of the way we treat people and for the football we play, or try to play. Unfortunately we’ve not always managed to do it, but they find something here they want to know again.
So when they go somewhere else and many, many, many players, believe me, ask me to come back. They all want to come back. I don’t know if it is Arsenal or England, but there is something about it.
Another player that wants to join the likes of Jens Lehmann, Sol Campbell and Thierry Henry in rejoining the Gunners for a second spell is the hardworking midfielder Mathieu Flamini.
The Frenchman left in 2008 after seeing out his contract, much to the frustration of the Gunners who was forming a formidable partnership with Cesc Fabregas. He is once again after a new club and Wenger has admitted he may become Arsenal’s second free transfer of the summer:
He works very hard, he has always been a very dedicated player. He has the required (fitness) level. He doesn’t come from a small club. He has played here, and in Milan, and in Marseille.
Does he (Flamini) regret leaving? You should ask him this question, it would be better. I didn’t ask him that. Would he be ready to come back here? Certainly, yes.
Flamini may not be the marquee signing we all crave but it may work out quite well for the Gunners if he returns and strengthens the midfield. Numbers are dwindling in the engine room and at least he has had time to embed himself into the squad while training with them for the last few weeks. He also knows Arsenal’s style of play very well.
How long a contract the 27-year-old is offered remains to be seen, but it could be a tidy bit of business.
Now it seems our summers transfer plans rests again on one, buck toothed, cannabalistic, racist man (yes we can mock him again as he’s not going to be in an Arsenal shirt this season) – Luis Suarez. Play your cards right Madrid and buy him and Bale, then sell us Benzema and Di Maria!
C O Y G!!!!
