Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that new signing Danny Welbeck is far quicker than he had expected.
The 23 year old scored three lovely goals as he sent the Gunners on their way to a first win in the Champions League this season. He thrilled a packed Emirates Stadium with his brilliant performance, and after the game his finishing skills were compared to that of legend Thierry Henry
The French manager, who was marking his 18 year anniversary at the club, was very happy with the convincing victory and with his £16 million summer signing as he described his performance as very good.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said:
He (Welbeck) had a great performance. I think he added that instinct of a goal scorer.
He was more aggressive and made great runs and he finished well the work of the team.

He has such good pace that it gives him time to finish calmly and once players understand that their finishing improves a lot.
It always helps to know that you have a chance to play in the next game. That gives you confidence.
What is good for me is that his team play is good as well. His team work and work rate are good. It’s not just his finishing because he wants to help the team.
I believe that, technically, he’s very sound. I was a surprised that he’s technically clean and that he’s a good passer of the ball. And I didn’t know he was so quick. Honestly, I knew he was quick but he can be electric when he starts – he has great pace.
The Englishman had a terrific night and scored the third-ever hat-trick by an Arsenal player in the UEFA Champions League. The three goals proved to everyone watching that Welbeck is the right man up front and that he can combine well with Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and the rest of the Gunners attack.
He has just scored once in the League so far this season and hopefully this performance will give him the confidence to find better form in front of goal, starting with the major clash against Chelsea this weekend. If he plays like this, the Gunners are guaranteed to pose a challenge to any opponent in both the Premier League and Champions League.
