Arsene Wenger has admitted that Alex Iwobi is bitterly disappointed with his role in the late PSG goal last night. A header from PSG man Lucas Moura took a small deflection off the Nigerian international and into the back of the net to square the match.
Arsenal could only manage a 2-2 draw with PSG last night at the Emirates. The visitors went ahead early on but goals from Olivier Giroud and a Marco Veratti own goal but the Gunners in a winning position with just half an hour left in the match. The winners would top Group A but PSG hit back late on through Lucas Moura. A draw was a better result for the Parisian side who now sit top of the group on away goals.
It was a disappointing result for Arsenal fans last night but it must’ve been even worse for Alex Iwobi. The youngster returned to the starting lineup last night after a couple of games out and marked it with a late deflection which sent Lucas’ header into the back of the net. It was entirely unintentional and Arsene Wenger is clearly sympathetic with the player.
“Look, it can happen,” Wenger told Arsenal.com after the match. “The frustrating thing I think is that Ospina was behind him.
“He is certainly the most disappointed by what happened to him. But that is part of the game.
“We have to take that on the chin and support him and go back into the next game.”

Fortunately for Iwobi and Arsenal, he won’t have to wait long for the next match. Arsenal take on Bournemouth on the weekend and after three consecutive draws, it will be good for the Nigerian and the rest of the team to come up against one of the lesser sides in the league and hopefully get back to winning ways.
