Karim Benzema is a long term target of ours (via The Telegraph), and Arsene Wenger is known to be a fan of his. The manager is apparently once again looking to bring the Frenchman to the club this summer, and has even made a phone call to his compatriot in an attempt to convince him, as reported by the Metro.

The news originates from a tweet by COPE reporter Paco Gonzalez, who claims the two men have been in contact ahead of a potential move.
PACO GONZÁLEZ:”Wenger ha vuelto a llamar este verano a Benzema, pero no quiere salir del Madrid. Jesé tampoco. Están encantados con Mayoral”

The Metro’s report suggests that Real Madrid are not keen on letting the prolific forward go, but that may not prevent a deal from going through if we can meet their valuation. A recent report from the Metro touted a very reasonable £17.8m transfer fee, although there is no telling how reliable that figure is.
There have been rumblings on Twitter from respected agent Muzzi Ozcan that we are closing in on what could be the “transfer of the season”, and the acquisition of Benzema could certainly fall into that category.
Arsenal will be making the transfer of the season ! The deal isn’t to far from being complete ! Will update in the coming days
