We have already secured the services of talented young midfielder Krystian Bielik this winter, and the signing of Gabriel Paulista looks all but done. Arsene Wenger doesn’t appear to be done however, and could have a surprise lined up for us come the end of January, as reported by the Daily Star.

Wenger is usually extremely tight lipped regarding transfers, and rarely confirms interest in a player unless he believes a deal is likely to go through. With the Frenchman talking so openly about his desire to bring Paulista to the Emirates from Villarreal, it would appear as though the Brazilian will soon be on his way to the Premier League.
He was quizzed about any further business in the transfer market this January in the same interview, and was asked if the purchase of the 24-year-old would signal the end of our dealings this window.
“Not necessarily, no,” he replied.
This is obviously an extremely cryptic message from the boss, and it certainly doesn’t give a huge amount away. The fact that he mentions it all is unusual however, and suggests that he is at least open to the prospect of bringing a third player to the club this January. Whether it will be another defender, a defensive midfielder, or even an attacker; only time will tell.
