Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was pleased with a number of qualities the team showed in what was strange encounter against Newcastle United on Saturday, the boss highlighted while speaking to Arsenal Player.
The maturity levels were particularly impressive for Wenger considering that we were playing against 10 men for almost 80 minutes of the game.
While our possession game was slightly slow and predictable, Newcastle United defended deep and in numbers which meant patience was also required in order to find a solution.

“We showed interesting qualities and it is three points. You know at the start of the season that you go to Crystal Palace, you go to Newcastle United and if you come out with six points then that is absolutely fantastic.”
It is understandable that Wenger wants to put a positive spin on the performance, but few can deny that we look bereft of ideas in the final third on Saturday.
The fact that the Magpies were down to 10 men is a considerable factor, but we’ve seen the same scenarios pan out in our previous games this season.
Hopefully, our attacking play can kick into gear after the international break.
