Arsene Wenger has hailed Santi Cazorla and Danny Welbeck after the duo helped Arsenal to register a 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns. The win was Arsenal fifth of the season and takes their points tally to 20.
Danny Welbeck headed home the winner from a fine Cazorla cross. The Spaniard nutmugged the West Brom defender and lofted in a peach of a ball for Welbeck to attack. Cazorla who was instrumental throughout the game has now assisted all goals in Arsenal’s last two games.
Although Cazorla was inspirational at times, it would be better if he could find his shooting boots. He continually finds himself in good positions but his finishing isn’t of the class his assists are, hopefully he finds his shooting boots soon.
Wenger told Arsenal.com:
Cazorla’s class got us that goal. He had a few opportunities in the first half. He cannot finish at the moment but in providing he is still top class.
He’s (Welbeck) a striker. He plays left, right, central. For me that’s not important. We have so many crosses coming in that there are always chances if you play on the flanks as well.
Welbeck’s finish also deserves credit, he was starting to get a bit of stick from the supporters for his recent performances and the goal would have restored his confidence.
That was his sixth goal for the Gunners since his move from Manchester United. Welbeck started in a front three alongside Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez and despite him being unable to get his shot at times he was Johnny on the spot to nod the winner. Well done Danny.
