Arsene Wenger thinks Jack Wilshere will secure a place in England’s World Cup squad if he stays at Arsenal and keeps performing the way he is (via Arsenal.com).
Now that we know most of the countries which will be playing there, footballers may start turning their attention to the World Cup and try to guarantee a place in their national team.
It’s a once in a career opportunity for most players and a number of Arsenal players will be heading off to Russia next summer.
Arsene Wenger thinks that Jack Wilshere will be one of them, despite not playing for his country since the defeat to Iceland at Euro 2016.
“I believe that Jack at the moment is in the best form I’ve seen him in for a long time,” Wenger said in his pre-match press conference.

“He’s very close now to being considered like anybody else. If he keeps going like he’s going at the moment, he will go to the World Cup, I’m sure. I don’t see Jack being fully fit and not going to the World Cup.
“Jack is certainly one of the players who has that [ability to excite] more than anybody else. We have plenty of good players but he is maybe more of a No 10 than any other player.
“He can open spaces, can play in tight areas, can get out of tight areas as well.”
A fit Jack Wilshere is certainly one of England’s best players. The Arsenal man has technical ability unlike almost anyone else in the national team and would surely have to be a part of the squad if he keeps performing the way he currently is.
