Arsene Wenger has confirmed Arsenal’s interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but claimed that he is just one of the players the club are looking at (via Arsenal.com).
Now that Alexis Sanchez has left the club and Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been brought in, Arsenal can focus on more potential incomings.
The Gunners are in dire need of another attacking player and it seems that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the player in demand.
Chief executive Ivan Gazidis was pictured in Dortmund this week and now, Arsene Wenger has been asked about whether he was confident a deal could be completed.
“Confident or not confident? I don’t know,” he said in his pre-match press conference.

“At the moment, we are not close to doing any deal, whether it’s Aubameyang or anyone else.
“You never know how close they are. These are the kind of things that, at the moment, are one of the possible movements.
“We have other things in mind as well and we have plenty of opportunities in different positions. The final decision is not made.”
Wenger was then asked if the rumours that Olivier Giroud would be involved in the deal carry any truth.
“The negotiations are not as far as that.”
It’s an interesting series of quotes from Arsene Wenger. It’s clear that Arsenal’s interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is genuine and now that the Gunners have signed his one-time Dortmund teammate, Henrikh Mkhitaryan it’s looking like an even more attractive proposition.
