Arsene Wenger has revealed Laurent Koscielny will be out for a number of weeks after suffering a deep cut just below his knee during Arsenal’s pulsating 6-3 loss to Manchester City.
The Frenchman’s absence could be a big blow ahead of their must-win tie against Chelsea in less than 9 days time, however club captain Thomas Vermaelen will be eager to have a real crack and cement a starting place in Wenger’s side.
Koscielny took to Facebook to reveal a picture of his nasty cut, something that will take some time to heal.
Warning: It’s pretty gross.

It appears the injury will rule one of the Gunners most consistent performers out for the hectic festive season, Wenger provided an update on Koscielny’s injury:
He has a cut and he will be out for a while but for how long I don’t know.
Meanwhile, Mesut Ozil angered compatriot Per Mertesacker after the record signing left the field without acknowledging Arsenal’s traveling fans.
The midfielder headed straight down the tunnel after an angry exchange of words with goal scorer Mertesacker, but Wenger refused to get involved with the spat and will leave the Germans to sort out any issue among themselves.
The Arsenal boss brushed aside the issue:
The Germans will sort that out between themselves don’t worry.
Certainly not a smart move by Ozil, not the greatest afternoon for the playmaker – one he’d certainly like to forget.
Props to General Mertesacker for sorting him out, but now the Gunners need to regroup and regain the unity that has been a strength within the squad. To lose to this City side is hardly anything to be embarrassed about, they’re extremely lethal.
We still top the table by two, time to extend the lead in the six pointer against Chelsea!
