Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has given Arsene Wenger and Arsenal a big boost after it has emerged that the midfielder will only miss one match. The Ox limped off in last weekend’s match but should be back in time for the New Year’s Day clash with Crystal Palace (via The Metro).
Amidst the disaster of Sunday’s match against Manchester City, Arsenal fans would be forgiven for forgetting about the injury to one of the club’s midfielders. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain limped off the field just 13 minutes after coming on as a sub. The Ox was shown thrown his shirt to the side as he headed for the dressing room.
The Englishman clutched his hamstring as he limped off the Etihad pitch but his injury isn’t as bad as first feared. The Gunners thought that the injury might see Oxlade-Chamberlain miss as much as six weeks but have confirmed that this is not the case.
Arsenal take on AFC Bournemouth on Boxing Day and while The Ox should miss the clash at the Emirates, he should be back in time for the match against Crystal Palace on New Year’s Day.
It’s good news for Arsenal fans as Oxlade-Chamberlain is enjoying his best season to date at the Emirates. He has six goals in all competitions this term which is his highest return since joining the Gunners in 2011.
