Arsene Wenger and Arsenal have received a huge boost with the news that Hector Bellerin should return early from injury. The Spaniard was expected to be out for another week but could be back in time to face Stoke on Saturday.
It would be the cherry on top of a very good week for Arsenal FC. After the convincing victory over West Ham last weekend and finishing top of the Champions League group on Tuesday, Arsene Wenger could be in for another piece of good fortune.
The Gunners boss revealed that Hector Bellerin could return from injury ahead of schedule and feature as early as Saturday. The right-back has missed the last three weeks but will undergo a test in the morning on his ankle.
“Coming back into the squad are Francis Coquelin, who was suspended at Basel, and maybe Bellerin,” Wenger said at his pre-match press conference this morning. “He will have a test.”
It remains to be seen whether the Spaniard will pass that test but either way, it’s good news. Bellerin has missed six matches and Arsene Wenger has utilised his squad in the youngster’s absence. Carl Jenkinson and Mathieu Debuchy have come in, as has Gabriel Paulista for the last couple of matches. As good as it was to see these players on the pitch, there’s little doubt that Bellerin is still the first choice right-back at the club.
