Arsene Wenger has revealed that we have an almost fully fit squad for our clash with Manchester City this weekend, with only Per Mertesacker unavailable after he picked up a hamstring injury, as reported by Arsenal.com.
For the first time in a long time, Arsene Wenger was able to choose from a full squad last weekend. Every single player was back in training, although some were obviously closer to full fitness than others.
That lasted just one week however, with Mertesacker having to be substituted during our narrow 1-0 win over Norwich.
Wenger revealed there were no fresh injuries heading into the game, with the giant German set to be the only absentee.
“From the squad that played against Norwich last Saturday, we have lost Per Mertesacker,” Wenger said.

“Per is out for the remaining two matches with a hamstring injury. Everyone else from last week’s squad is fit and available for selection.”
This obviously means that Gabriel Paulista will once again take his place alongside Laurent Koscielny, which given our recent run of results is a bit of a shame. We were defensively superb following the reunion of Mertesacker and Koscielny, and while the World Cup winner could certainly be replaced with someone better, before his injury he was getting us results.

Our game against Man City this weekend could prove to be a massive one, as not only could it impact who finishes third in the Premier League this season, it could also still potentially earn us second place ahead of Tottenham – however unlikely that may be.
