Arsene Wenger says Alexis Sanchez has not asked to leave Arsenal, after discussing the forward’s future at a press conference in Australia.
The Gunners have landed in Sydney for their tour of Australia and the boss was asked about the Chilean, who is not in the party due to his international commmitments at the Confederations Cup.
When asked if Sanchez has asked to leave, Wenger replied “No”, according to Standard Sport, before going on to expand on the subject further.
“The easiest way to manage the players in the final year of their contracts is it’s in his interest to do as well as he can,” he added.
“Nobody knows today if Sanchez will be in the final year of his contract next season because he can as well extend his contract with us at the start of the season or during the season.
“It’s not necessarily the last year of his contract at Arsenal Football Club.”

The news follows on from reports yesterday that Sanchez could well stay another season with Arsenal absolutely determined not to sell him to Manchester City.
Speculation claims that Arsenal will only sell if they receive an offer in the region of £90m for the 28-year-old.
Does this mean Sanchez is staying? It’s really difficult to tell, but what is certain is that Arsenal will not let him go without a fight.
