Arsene Wenger has hailed Alexis Sanchez as “superhuman” after the Chilean was handed his 29th start of the season in the FA Cup third round against Hull City at the Emirates. The forward was praised for his tireless work rate and for being indefatigable.
Alexis was once again impressive in Arsenal’s routine 2-0 win over last season’s finalists Hull. The striker scored his customary goal and set up chances for his teammates which unfortunately they couldn’t convert.
The Chilean has been the only positive in a season of desperation for the Gunners. In a campaign when others around him have been falling like flies he has so far remained healthy.
Wenger told arsenal.com
I hope [he can keep his energy up for the rest of the season]. There’s no reason. You look at the players who have that confidence – you’re torn between the fact that when the player’s confident and keeping him playing, and giving him a rest.
I feel that when the players are confident it’s important to keep them going, especially when they have that physical potential.

He recovers very quickly and we’ll see. At the moment he doesn’t look in our tests like he has any fatigue problem.
While we no doubt accept that Alexis is a superhuman; there is that tinge of desperation when he goes down holding his hamstrings or calf. He is an Arsenal player after all.
Fingers crossed for Alexis ‘Superhuman’ Sanchez that he remains fit for the remainder of the season.
