Arsene Wenger has said he could keep hold of both Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal at Arsenal despite the signing of fellow left-back Sead Kolasinac (via Arsenal.com).
It was assumed that the signing of Sead Kolasinac would bring about some change at the Emirates in the left-back department.
The Gunners have both Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs who can play the position with many reports suggesting that the latter could be forced to leave the Emirates in search of first-team football.
Well, that may not be the case. Arsene Wenger was speaking to the Official Arsenal Website about his new signing and admitted that he may choose to keep hold of both current left-backs.
“We have Kieran Gibbs, we have Nacho Monreal and we have him [Kolasinac]. But Nacho plays a lot now in central defence and in a three-man system, I see him in there.”
Wenger then spoke about Kolasinac’s qualities more specifically and what he thinks the Bosnian will bring to Arsenal.

“He’s very compact as a player, very strong and determined in the challenges,” Wenger went on. “He’s good in the air as well, so overall I believe he has all the attributes to adapt to English football
“The game here is very demanding physically on the commitment front and he has the ingredients to adapt to that.
“What he will give us is the fact that he’s a player who can give assists, who can go forward, who can contribute good crosses.”
A final product is something which both Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal have lacked at times this season. The final cross or pass is crucial and while the Gunners have this one the right with Alex Oxalde-Chamberlain and Hector Bellerin, it’s absent on the left. Hopefully, Kolasinac will bring just that and despite Wenger’s words, we still expect Kieran Gibbs to leave the club this summer.
