Arsene Wenger has said that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will definitely stay at Arsenal despite recent transfer speculation surrounding the player (via Arsenal.com).
It’s a transfer story which has somewhat gone under the radar until the last couple of weeks but it seems that the future of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has finally been resolved.
The Englishman has a year left on his contract and has been strongly linked with a move to Premier League rivals like Chelsea and Liverpool but it seems that Arsene Wenger is determined to hang onto the Ox.
“Personally, because I rate him highly and he’s one of the players who is on his way up,” Wenger said in his pre-match press conference. “In the last year, he has made huge progress and I want him to stay here for a long time.
“I’m convinced he will be the English player that everybody will look at in the next two years.”
Wenger was then asked about whether he would be keeping Chamberlain no matter what and made it quite clear that he would.

“I have regular conversations with the players where I tell them where I stand and they know what I want and where I stand on that front.”
It’s good to see that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be staying at the club this summer. He has developed well in the last twelve months and is now an important first-team player. Let’s hope he does agree to a new deal and, more importantly, can figure out where on the pitch is his best position.
