Wenger’s men lost 4-0 at the San Siro in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie and are huge outsiders to progress with at least 4 goals required to force the tie into extra time. One away goal from Milan means that Arsenal will have to then win the match by 5 goals.
Wenger somehow remains optimistic and feels that they may have a shot at progressing to the next stage of the UCL, and may even shift the formation to cater a more attacking lineup. He told Arsenal.com:
We want to make the impossible possible. From the first leg it looks impossible but we have to have a real go, play with belief and think we can do it.
You never know. Maybe I will change the structure of the team to go for it and see if we can put them under pressure and score some goals.
We have nothing to lose. For us to find the right balance between having to completely go forward and not concede a goal will be the difficulty for us because they have talented players.
It is certainly a long shot to say that they can progress, but Arsenal have managed to knock 7 past Blackburn recently as well as 5 against Spurs. The Italian giants will certainly be stronger defensively then the two English sides, but if just the right formation is applied perhaps the Gunners can get two or three goals to make it a close tie. Winning 4-0 is probably the most likely outcome for Arsenal to force the tie into extra-time, but if Milan score even once then the Gunners will have to win 6-1 in 90 minutes.

What would your formation be this Tuesday? Here’s my pick:
Sagna Koscielny Vermaelen Gibbs
Walcott Van Persie (c)
The usual back four will be required to attempt to subdue Milan’s fierce attacking lineup, but a more traditional, attacking 4-4-2 should be applied to allow Walcott to slot in up front, with Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gervinho tearing it up on the wings. Song is an extremely important player defensively and offensively as he has shown time and time again this season so with Rosicky in the centre of the park there is an attacking partnership in itself.
