Wenger spoke to the press about Chelsea striker Diego Costa and new Gunner hero Danny Welbeck in the build up to the match between the two sides tomorrow. The Gunners head to Stamford Bridge, where they were demolished 6-0 last season, and will be hoping to avenge that massive loss this time around.
A victory will be difficult to achieve with Chelsea almost scoring at will in the Premier League. They have scored 19 goals so far in the six games played, and a large proportion of those have been converted by Spain striker Diego Costa. The £32m summer signing from Atletico Madrid has contributed eight goals, and Wenger is fully aware of the threat posed by the Spaniard.
He has done fantastically well.
He has all the aspects of a striker that you like – he is focused, always determined and ready for a fight.
He has also got players who can feed him like (Cesc) Fabregas and Eden Hazard, who can find him with final balls.
Costa is a very efficient player. The timing of his runs and his determination, his killing determination – you feel he is a killer, he has that in him (when in front of goal).
Arsenal and Chelsea are both unbeaten in the League so far, and the Gunners are high on confidence after beating Galatasaray comprehensively in the midweek fixture. Danny Welbeck was the hero of that game, scoring a sublime hat trick. Wenger admits that the young Englishman is important to his plans this season, and especially in the upcoming fixture.
You have to find a balance between nullifying their strengths, but without forgetting to express your strengths.

It is very important that we focus and concentrate on us having a great determination, a great desire and a great hunger to have a great performance, and focus on our performance and the way we want to play.
Danny is 23 years old. The fact that he plays regularly in the Premier League now, in his (central) position, means he is improving game by game, is adding to his game and that is very positive.
There is a lot more to come from him, especially because he has the basics.
Danny has a good technique, he has good pace and a good mentality, so I believe that Diego Costa is a good example for him to follow.
Tomorrow’s result will hinge on the performance of these two forwards. Both Arsenal and Chelsea have top quality midfielders who can supply the striker. It is then up to the strikers to put the ball in the net, and for Arsenal to win, we need to ensure that Costa is unable to break free, and also hope that Welbeck performs up to the level that he displayed against our Turkish opponents.
