Arsene Wenger is reportedly hopeful that the potential signing of Thomas Lemar could help convince Kylian Mbappe to join the Gunners (via Goal).
It would be one of the most successful transfer windows in many years if Arsenal could pull this off.
The Gunners are reportedly close to signing Monaco winger Thomas Lemar in a £30 million deal and Arsene Wenger is hopeful that his signing could lead the way for another from the Ligue 1 champions.
Kylian Mbappe is perhaps the most coveted striker in the world right now and Arsene Wenger is reportedly hopeful that the signing of Thomas Lemar would aid Arsenal’s cause in their quest to secure the 18-year-old’s signature.
Mbappe is being courted by some of the biggest clubs in Europe including Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.
News broke last week that Wenger has personally contacted Mbappe and his family and that their relationship is reportedly very cordial.

While Arsenal may not be competing for league titles and European honours like Real Madrid and PSG right now, they can offer Mbappe something the others can’t: playing time.
Mbappe would undoubtedly be Arsenal’s first choice centre-forward but the same can’t be said of Real Madrid or PSG. Wenger is also hopeful that Thomas Lemar’s potential presence in North London could tip the balance in Arsenal’s favour.
It’s unclear whether or not that would be the case. There’s no doubt that Real Madrid are a bigger club than Arsenal but because of that, Kylian Mbappe would play less. Few Arsenal fans would object to Mbappe even using Arsenal as a stepping-stone for a few seasons. The Gunners would have a top class player for a few years and a hefty transfer fee when he eventually does leave, similar to Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United. We’ll have to wait and see.
