Arsene Wenger has backed Gabriel Paulista to succeed at Arsenal, and claims we will see much, much more of him next season, as reported by the Metro.
The Brazilian is our latest first team signing, and has looked good during the few glimpses we’ve been given off him. The 24-year-old is angling to make up one half of our central-defensive pairing, but must displace Per Mertesacker or Laurent Koscielny.
Wenger is confident the former Villarreal star can shine in the English top flight, and even went as far to claim that he would be a “revelation”.
He mentioned Calum Chambers as well, who could well be Gabriel’s future defensive partner.
“I believe Gabriel will be a revelation,” said Wenger.

“I am convinced he will be a top player and we’ll see more of him next season.
“As well, I don’t like to forget players like Calum Chambers who had a very good start to the season and who will come back to a very good level.”
There have been questions raised over the suitability of Mertesacker, with his pace often a concern. Hopefully Gabriel can kick on and improve during his first full season at the Emirates, as it already looks as though we have a top quality defender on our books.
