Arsenal take on Preston North End in the FA Cup Third Round on Saturday evening, hoping to reach the fourth stage for the 21st consecutive season. It’s the first meeting between these clubs since 1960.
Match: Preston North End v Arsenal
Kick-Off (GMT): Sat 7 Jan 17:30
After winning the FA Cup twice in the past three seasons, there’s no doubt that Arsene Wenger wants to triumph again.
Here’s how we think Arsenal will line up:
- Arsenal are in surprise transfer links for Chelsea first team star
- How will Arsenal line up vs West Ham – Two major changes expected
- Mikel Arteta makes U-turn on long-term Arsenal star – will stay at club
GK) David Ospina
Arsene Wenger mentioned it in his press conference that David Ospina will start so expect to see the Colombian between the sticks.
RB) Carl Jenkinson
Hector Bellerin had one of the worst matches of his short career on Tuesday night but he probably wouldn’t have played anyway. We think Arsene Wenger will rotate his back four and name Carl Jenkinson at right-back instead of the Spaniard but don’t be surprised to see Ainsley Maitland-Niles there either.
CB) Gabriel Paulista
The Brazilian made a brief cameo on Tuesday night and should feature again against Preston. The Brazilian has put in some good performances of late and his partnership with Rob Holding is developing well.
CB) Rob Holding
The Englishman should start again in a cup competition. Rob Holding impressed with his performances in the Capital One Cup so we expect another start for the former-Bolton man.
LB) Nacho Monreal
With Kieran Gibbs on the sidelines and very few options in reserve, we expect Nacho Monreal to start at left-back. The Spaniard is the only recognised first-team player in his position who is currently available so he should feature.
