Arsene Wenger has said that he wants Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to remain at Arsenal and grow into the “very great player” he can become (via The Mirror).
Aside from Mesut Özil and Alexis Sanchez, one player whose future is surrounded in unknowns is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The Englishman has been at the club since 2011 but with just one year left on his contract, has been the subject of interest from Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool.
However, Arsene Wenger has stated in his pre-match press conference that not only does he want the player to stay, but to develop into a great player.
“I think he had in his career some bad moments because he had some small injuries.
“Last year he was much more stable. I personally think he’s a hugely talented player and he’s on the way up.

“He’ll continue to move up because the potential is there. He’s today very conscious of his qualities as well, something he was not always.
“I personally think he’ll be a very great player.”
Well, that about settles it as far as Arsene Wenger is concerned. It’s clear that he wants Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to stay at the club for many years to come but in order for him to do that, a clear position needs to be defined. He has impressed immensely at right wing-back but with Hector Bellerin still coming through, it’s difficult to say who will be first choice.
