Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has raised the expectations of supporters by stating that the Gunners are ready to spend big in the summer to strengthen their squad.
The Frenchman has signed a new three-year contract which will see him take charge of the Gunners until 2017, and in this time he will look to usher in a new era for the north London club.
Arsenal won the FA Cup last season, and ended their nine-year wait without a major trophy. Wenger is looking to push on from that historic occasion, and challenge for the title in the forthcoming season.
According to Daily Mail, he said:
We know we have to have a successful June and July, that’s where you strengthen the team.
It’s very important that we are good now in the next two months until the end of August, that we can give to the team some more quality and go into next season with the belief we got from [the FA Cup] win.

Should the fans expect a big summer? Yes, they should expect that.
What I can promise is that we work very hard in a market that is very, very congested with many people who have a lot of money.
But we have a big advantage, players want to join us and if we find the right quality I’m sure we can strengthen the team.
We are entering a very exciting period. We have a strong squad, financial stability and huge support around the world.
It’s time for another great Arsenal team [to emerge]. It’s the start of a new team and I believe [the FA Cup] victory was crucial in that belief.
The Gunners Wembley win has finally brought some much-needed relief to the hungry supporters, and winning that piece of silverware will also help shift an enormous mental barrier. However, the manner in which Arsenal’s challenge wilted in both the Premier League and Champions League offers some serious cause for concern.
We have a good squad, but a few big signings this summer will give this Arsenal side the injection of quality required to mount a more substantial challenge on both the domestic and European front. It would also provide a refreshing feel to a squad that looked a little stale at times in the previous campaign.
All the big clubs are likely to invest heavily in their squad during the off-season, and the Gunners can’t afford to be left behind. The FA Cup win could be a catalyst for this side to achieve bigger and better things, but if Arsenal remain static in the transfer window then they will have to make do with the FA Cup and a Champions League spot once again next season.
