Arsene Wenger has claimed that fans and pundits would be stupid to write Arsenal off for the Premier League title despite their woeful start to the season (via beIN Sports).
That 4-3 victory over Leicester City on the opening day of the season feels like a long time ago now for many Arsenal fans.
A 1-0 defeat against Stoke City was followed up by a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool last week but Arsene Wenger is still optimistic about his side’s chances this season.
“People always make their mind up very quickly,” he said in an interview with beIN Sports.
“And the players forget always very quickly how good you are, you know, much quicker than you think.

“And we have to continue to believe in our strength and as well not to forget. And our fans as well you know.
“To have a successful season we need our fans. And our fans can say. ‘OK we’re not good enough our squad is not good enough And think, OK, we have no chance this year.’ That will not work.
“A top level sportsman is a guy who keeps going where others give up and that’s what would be absolutely stupid, to say, today, that you give up for the rest of the championship.”
It’s an interesting set of quotes from Arsene Wenger but he’s being naive if he thinks Arsenal have a real chance at the Premier League title this year. Some of the club’s best players want to leave, others will probably leave next season and the whole atmosphere around the Emirates is toxic right now. Few fans are as optimistic for this season as Wenger seems to be.
