West Ham are preparing to make a surprise summer move for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, according to the Mirror.
Giroud’s future has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks although the France international has insisted he wants to remain at Arsenal.
Marseille have been linked with the Gunner but Giroud has said he wants to remain in north London and add to his collection of silverware.
However, West Ham appear ready to test his resolve and believe they can equal any offer he may receive from elsewhere.
Giroud made just 11 Premier League starts last season and although he scored 12 times in the top flight he is unlikely to be a regular starter next season.
While the future of Alexis Sanchez remains unclear, it appears that if he does leave Arsenal, they will sign a replacement that could still keep Giroud on the bench.

The Gunners have been linked with a huge bid for Kylian Mbappe as well as interest in Alexandre Lacazette meaning Giroud may still struggle for game time again next season.
Giroud will turn 31 in September but still has plenty to offer, as his goal against Sweden in last night’s 2-1 World Cup qualifying defeat showed.
Wenger too has insisted he wants to keep hold of the striker and with Lucas Perez expected to depart, he could still play a crucial role for Arsenal next season even if he is not first choice.
