After what has been a whirlwind three months or so the international break this weekend helps us to reflect on what has been a quite positive period for the Gunners. Since the last international break we have played 18 games in the league and won 13 of them. It’s an impressive run by any standards and given that we had won only 3 of the opening 10 games, it’s quite remarkable we find ourselves in a position where we can finish as runners up (of course if Chelsea do a monumental balls up we can have a shot at the title).
I fully expect Arsenal to finish in the top three. We are on a brilliant run and also have a Wembley date to look forward to. Credit must go to Arsene Wenger and his players for the turnaround. Some players such as Giroud, Monreal, Cazorla, Ozil and Coquelin have really stepped up to the plate and had it not been for the Monaco game it would have been a perfect start to 2015. As ever the first leg result meant that we gave ourselves too much to do and anything barring a miracle would save.
All is not lost, we still have 8 games to play and the race for the top 4 is tighter than ever. I believe us and Man United will complete the top 4 spots. Spurs are Spurs while Liverpool came crashing down on Sunday. A win for us when we meet them in a fortnight’s time will all but put them out of the reckoning. The Chelsea game and United at Old Trafford are the testing ones in a run of fixtures that is not so bad to be honest.
Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves here if anyone can bottle it it’s us so once the Premier League resumes, let’s gear up for the final sprint of yet another dramatic season.
Share your thoughts below and we will summarize the results in a forthcoming posts…
