I never really look at transfer rumors especially those associated with Arsenal because we all know how that turns out. Nevertheless, I have decided to throw my two cents on players Arsenal should/ should not consider and why.
Players Arsenal should consider:
(1) Fernando Torres:
There are rumors linking Torres with a move back to Atletico Madrid. I believe he still has a lot to offer and his pedigree has never been in doubt. I just think his game is not well suited to Chelsea. It is no coincidence that Torres and Shevchenko flopped so badly after performing so well in their former clubs. They require teams that embrace free flowing football and not curb their attacking instinct which is why they succeeded at Liverpool and AC Milan respectively and failed at Chelsea. I highly doubt Atletico Madrid want to re-sign Torres for sentimental value.
(2) Cesc Fabregas:
Don't Miss:

He is good…very good actually, but he lacks something. He was never really a leader at Arsenal, and never quite fit in at Barcelona when he was meant to be a ready made replacement for Xavi. Guardiola and the subsequent coaches have not used him in his natural position. It seems like they do not trust him enough to dictate proceedings. Still, I said at the beginning of the season before our spate of injuries that we had enough midfielders and did not require anymore…I am not about to make the same mistake again. Just don’t expect Wenger to build a team around him again.
(3) Stevan Jovetic:
I always thought Manchester City bought Jovetic as a luxury player and not because they really needed him. So it has proven. They have no idea what a gem they have on their hands. I still remember the way he would score goals in Fiorentina and his energetic celebrations reminiscent of Inzaghi. I still do not understand how Arsenal did not bid for Jovetic when he was available. No problem. We should go for him now with his stock at an all time low.
Special mention:
Julian Draxler:
I mention Draxler out of curiosity rather than necessity. Everyone keeps talking about him and I am curious to see what he has to offer. There has been talk of Wenger converting him to a striker so does that make it a two for one deal?
Players Arsenal should not consider:
(1) Edison Cavani:
A good player is one who can adapt his game to suit the team. Cavani has the potential to score a bucket load of goals but can also go on a slump when things do not go his way. Ibrahimovic has proved time and again that he is very effective something that Cavani is yet to prove. There is a lot of talk of teams interested in him but nothing concrete. It seems like the rest of Europe have their reservations about him
(2) Chris Smalling:
Please let this just be a rumor. Even Manchester United fans do not want him. He is more suited to the Championship than the Champions league. I highly doubt Wenger would be interested in him considering every other defender is better than him. There is no doubt we need cover for Koscielny and Mertesacker but Smalling is no the answer.
(3) Any player who goes to the World Cup:
Do we really want players to start complaining about fatigue by November? We need fresh players who will give us a head start over the other teams. Like Ljungberg said, the players are hungry for the FA cup and winning it will only produce a craving for further success. They won’t achieve it with players who are dead on their feet.
Special mention:
Salomon Armand Magloire Kalou:
This rumor just won’t go away. Wenger has been an unknown admirer of Kalou ever since his time at Chelsea. Now in Lille, a last minute bid for him during the January transfer window failed. No one was happier about that than I was and I can safely say, Kalou is definitely not Arsenal class. If it came to a choice between Kalou and Gervinho, I would prefer Gervinho and that statement alone tells you how low I rate Kalou.
