Is anybody else noticing this epidemic, or is it just me? Quite frankly I’m sick of it!
Arsenal have admittedly endured a difficult few years with our barren run, and yes, there has been some room for criticism, but this media assault on Arsenal goes beyond the boundaries of constructive, analytical review . It wreaks of a sinister dislike for the Arsenal and as someone who loves his club, I take offence to this garbage that gets spewed. I say “sinister dislike” because the comments coming out are void of any logical analysis and must therefore be born from a personal dislike, rather than professional critique.
For years we were slated for our defence, and for years they were right. Even us Gooners agreed with the criticism of our defence in the past, but when we’ve had the 2nd best defence last season and STILL so-called “pundits” are criticizing our defence, it must beg the question “Where is this coming from?” I mean, when there are flaws in our game, by all means, point it out, that’s your job as a “pundit”, to analyze the game. As a writer I have also written pieces analyzing certain flaws in our game and pointing out areas we should improve, but in the same mould, I point out the strengths of our game. If your strengths can compensate for your weaknesses you can still be successful. Was the World Cup winning Brazil team known for its incredible defence? No, but they used their strengths to compensate for their weaknesses. I know that we have weaknesses, every team does, but our results have proven that we can still be successful while we’re working on our flaws.
Why is that all you hear from these post-match analysis is where we went wrong? If they ever do mention what we did well, it’s exactly that, a quick mention and then onto how poor we were defensively. I didn’t hear how bad City’s defence is after they lost to Crystal Palace with absolute school boy defending?? I didn’t hear how bad Joe Hart was when he fumbled around his line like a buffoon? I didn’t hear how City are now NOT title contenders and will be fighting for 4th spot?
As someone who writes for this website, I make it my business to watch as many games as I can, not just Arsenal games, and I can tell you that the other “title contenders” make just as many defensive errors as we do but it’s not turned into a catastrophic event by the media. Never are their tactical errors used as reason to write them off from all possible success for the season.

My point is, every team has flaws they need to work on. If any team was perfect there wouldn’t even be a title race, and this wouldn’t be the most competitive league in world football. But I just do not see other teams being labelled and written off the way Arsenal has been. We have lost just ONE of our last 21 games!! Are any of these “pundits” paying attention to these stats?? How many times must we prove them wrong? They said we wouldn’t make top 4, we DID! They said we wouldn’t win our qualifying game, WE DID comprehensively! They said we wouldn’t win the derby, WE DID! They said we wouldn’t sign a world class player, WE DID!
Now the latest toad to suffer from verbal diarrhoea, Mr Alan Hansen, has said we will not make it out of the Champions League group stage. Oh really, based on what information? Just what evidence is this expert analysis based on, I wonder? Let’s see now, our “group of death” has Dortmund, Napoli and Marseille. Dortmund is a tough team with a great coach, but didn’t they lose to Bayern in the final? The same Bayern that we beat on their own turf, a feat which by the way, only one other team accomplished last season? Why are we then incapable of beating Dortmund? Didn’t we also draw with Napoli at the Emirates Cup? So why are they odds on to qualify ahead of us? And Marseille… ok do me a favour…
Are these “pundits” also forgetting that we are the top seeded team in this group? I suppose that happened by accident or fluke did it? So we’re the top seeded team in the group, we’re also on a better run of form than any of the other teams in our group, yet we’re apparently not going to qualify. Where’s the evidence and statistical proof to support that piece of “expert analysis”?? There is none. In fact, if you went off stats and current form, you would bank on Arsenal topping the group. So my questions is, does anyone else smell something rotten?…
Why is the British media so negative about Arsenal? It’s obviously not based on facts? Yes I know we should have bought another defender and a striker, but look at our results – does is not speak for itself? And by the way, these “pundits” are not writing us off because of our lack of depth, but based on the ability of our starting 11. I’m sorry, but that is utter bollocks! Our starting 11 can beat anybody! Arsenal could be top of the league with 2 games to go and these morons would still be writing us off.
My fellow Gooners, we have had a lot to be negative about in the past, and our “concerns” were turned into rage by the media hype around our “crisis situation”. Now we finally have a chance at silverware, I truly believe that.
We need a few key additions in January and we will be well on our way to glory. Now is not the time to be negative, so I urge all of you to disregard the “expert” analysis of these “experts”.
I asked the question in the title, but I really have no answer for the garbage that these clowns are spewing out. If you know why they’re so against our club, please let me know in the comments section – I would love to know. Ok,that was a hint of sarcasm because I really do not care why they do it. In fact, I hope they continue; it would be that much sweeter when we prove them all wrong, AGAIN!
To the “experts” of the media who are writing us off: As Arsene Wenger once said “We do our talking on the pitch”, and if what we’ve said on the pitch for the last 21 games isn’t clear enough for your dumbass to understand, then you should rather comment on cricket, because you clearly don’t know football.
