Despite fiercely denying the allegations, Manchester United’s Jonny Evans has been handed a six match ban for spitting on Newcastle United’s Papiss Cisse, as reported by the Daily Mail.
This obviously means he will miss the FA Cup clash at Old Trafford this Monday, which could be fantastic news for us.
Evans is not normally the type of player who grabs headlines – at least not positive ones – but his impact at United has been understated this season.
Louis van Gaal’s defence has been a shambles at times this campaign, but the Northern Irish defender has been a surprisingly calming presence for the club.

Injuries have curtailed the 27-year-old’s season so far, but he has been involved in the majority of their games since Christmas.
Manchester United’s stats with and without Evans paint a clear picture, and the fact they will be without him is great news for us.
It’s going to be a tough game at Old Trafford, and we will need to be at our best regardless of who van Gaal fields. With the form we have been showing we are more than capable of beating United with or without Evans, but let’s hope we show that on Monday and book ourselves a place in the semi-final.
