The transfer rubbish window is in full swing and nothing going on at Arsenal really. So why not indulge in some romantic reunions. Before I get into the thick of things I will make myself clear, this article is based on the following assumption: the Prodigal Son returns home. Of course the son is none other than our very own Franc Cesc Fabregas.
The Spaniard is reportedly available as Barcelona are willing to cash on him as new coach Luis Enrique plans to revamp the squad. Arsenal, it seems have the first refusal on him if he indeed decides to leave the Catalan club. It is also believed that a fee of at least £30 millions will be required to acquire the services of the Spaniard. The transfer market, in which Bale is the most expensive, Fabregas at £30million is an absolute steal. Before getting into the second most debatable Arsenal topic (The first is of course Arsene Knows vs Wenger out) of whether we need another creative nimble No.10, let’s look at how Cesc will shape our team.
Fabregas will reproduce the Ozil effect. Just like Ozil’s arrival that lifted the entire club, Cesc’s second coming will also generate positive vibes and the feel good factor will be enormous. Yes we are in need of a striker, defensive midfielder that eats No.10’s, centre back , goalkeeper, right back. However world class players like Fabregas don’t often come at a cut price and if the opportunity rises we should grab it with both hands. Seriously we are not stepping down the ladder by signing him. He is one of the best midfielders in the world and let’s be honest, several clubs would want him including teams like PSG, Chelsea, City that buy just for the sake of spending 100Million. Imagine were he to go to Chelsea or Man Utd (can you just give food to the thought of him playing under Mourinho or lining up alongside the little Dutch twat at Old Trafford.) I would rather listen to Michael Owen than see him play for another English club.
Fabregas will not only be welcomed by fans (at least, most of them) he will be greeted back by the club like a long lost son. Jack Wilshere has previously profused his admiration for the Spaniard and think of the impact it would have on the development of the Welsh Jesus, Jack, Ox, Gnabry. Also he won’t be returning to a team of kids but to a team of winners. We won the FA cup. Yes I will say that as long as Spurs win the trophy, which is to say till the next ice age. Cesc will also return as a winner having won the league title at Barca. So no lack of winning mentality.
Last time our offense seriously lagged behind Man City and the Media Darlings Liverpool. Arsene assured it will be improved next term and why not begin that by signing Fabregas. Moreover given our injury record surely the Catalan boy would add that depth. I mean not just by quantity but in Arsene’s words ‘top top quality’. He could weigh in with at least 15 goals and 15 assists from midfield and who knows he may even line up as a striker. Now that’s a serious contribution and if you include Theo and Ramsey in that equation it could add up to nearly 60 and with Giroud possible netting 20, and others contributing we may touch that 100 mark. That is not to say we don’t need another forward, we definitely need that world class striker who will outscore Messi and Ronaldo and score from half way at least every three games. I genuinely believe Cesc could play both with or without Ozil. With Fabregas, we may even give Ozil the winter rest he craves! How that would affect Arsenal will be covered in the next edition in this Fabregas special.
But for now he is one glorious opportunity we can’t afford to miss!!!!
