Jack Wilshere has responded after being sent off for Arsenal U23s against Manchester City on Monday night.
The midfielder was given a straight red card after reacting angrily to a poor challenge from Matt Smith, with a brawl between the players then breaking out.
However, Wilshere took to social medai after the game to brush off the incident, writing on Instagram: “Well, that was eventful 😅 felt good to be back on the pitch at the Emirates even though it ended earlier than I thought. My passion and my hunger is back, buzzing for more games.”
Wilshere also hit out at The Sun on Twitter, after the tabloid described his sending off as a “new low” in the 25-year-old’s career so far.
Evening Sam…Intrigued to hear more about how you think this is a career low for me? Would love a sit down with you? Look forward to it. https://t.co/nyVzXGyNxA

The midfielder’s future at Arsenal remains in some doubt with Arsene Wenger admitting he is unsure if he will stay and that a decision needs to be made.
There has reportedly been some interest from Italian sides as well as Newcastle and West Ham while Turkish club Antalyaspor have also, somewhat surprisingly, claimed they had held talks.
