Jack Wilshere scored two sensational goals for England in Sunday’s win against Slovenia, but it was his second which captured the attention of an international great as Gary Lineker described it has one of England’s best ever goals.
That is an utterly breathtaking goal from @JackWilshere . Delightful football.

Struggling to think of a better England goal than @JackWilshere ‘s. One or two of Bobby Charlton’s, maybe, but did they match the build-up?

The focus was very much on Wilshere’s superb finish, but the build-up play between Andros Townsend, Jordan Henderson and the delightful flick by Adam Lallana contributed to a fine team goal.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live after the game, Lineker issued a more controlled statement about the 23-year-old’s strike.
“Jack Wilshere scored two breathtaking goals,” he said.
“I’m sure he hit the same square of the net on both occasions.
“Let’s put it this way – if we had a top 10 he’d be in it.”
Wilshere, after his bright end to the season followed by the performances on an international stage, is certainly reminding many of his merucial talents.
Injuries have certainly been a drawback but they’ve led to other obstacles that have halted his development. A young player needs time on the pitch to learn and grow at a competitive pace, which further highlights Wilshere’s intelligence.
His absence hasn’t resulted in him being left behind by the modern midfielders in the game and if he remains fit next season, he will certainly become central to the plans of both club and country.
